About

The Museum of Cleaning, Tidiness and Conservation is located in the São Francisco neighborhood of Curitiba, next to the Museu Casa Alfredo Andersen and near Largo da Ordem. Created by Facop, the Fundação de Asseio e Conservação, Serviços Especializados e Facilities do Paraná, the space opened in 2026 and is dedicated to the history of cleaning, tidiness, and conservation. The collection brings together old items used for home cleaning—such as scrub brushes, brooms, and floor polishers—along with tools employed in urban cleaning. Together, they trace the evolution of activities focused on caring for spaces and using instruments that were part of everyday life in both homes and public services. The museum also honors sanitation, conservation, and cleaning workers. In this perspective, it places a type of labor that is rarely highlighted in museum institutions at the center of the narrative, linking the objects on display to the memory of these trades. Beyond the exhibition, the site functions as a museum-school, demonstrating appropriate cleaning techniques for spaces with artistic and historical objects. The proposal connects conservation practices to environments with sensitive collections, relating material preservation to maintenance procedures. The museum is presented as the first in Brazil and the second in the world dedicated exclusively to the history of cleaning.
