Paraná Museum of Medical History

The Paraná Museum of Medical History is the first space in the state dedicated to the history of medicine. Housed in a historic building linked to Santa Casa de Curitiba, the museum presents the development of medicine in Paraná in dialogue with the preservation of the city’s heritage. Visits are guided by trained staff. The collection at the Paraná Museum of Medical History includes more than 3,500 items across medical, pharmaceutical, sacred, historical, and other collections. Together, they help tell the story of the evolution of healthcare, the work of Santa Casa, and the development of medical practice in Paraná over time. The museum is the result of a partnership between Santa Casa de Curitiba and the Associação Médica do Paraná. Its mission brings together documents, professional-use objects, and institutional memory, with a focus on preserving the history of medicine in Curitiba and throughout the state.
