About

The Paranaense Justice Museum is an institutional space dedicated to preserving the memory of Paraná's judiciary. Located within the TJPR complex in Centro Cívico, it brings together documents, case files, photographs, furniture, audiovisual materials, books, and objects linked to the history of justice in the state. Created in 1974, the museum was organized to safeguard and share the history of the Paranaense Judiciary. Its collection includes more than 50,000 items and spans a period from the 18th century to the present day. Preserved materials include historical case files from older judicial districts such as Curitiba, Paranaguá, Imbituva, and Antonina, as well as equipment and items used in the institution's daily life and personal belongings of judges. The collection also includes records that help illuminate how the memory of Paraná's judiciary was formed over different periods. Over the decades, the institution has also built a strong record of temporary exhibitions, with more than 40 in-person shows documented. In 2022, TJPR announced the opening of a new exhibition space on the esplanade of the annex building next to the Palace of Justice, designed to offer a more interactive and technology-driven visitor experience. The new area expanded the way the collection can be explored and strengthened the museum's role as a reference for research and cultural outreach. In addition to in-person visits, the museum maintains digital initiatives through the Justice Virtual Museum, which provides remote access to part of the Court of Justice's historical collection. This online space brings together paintings, sculptures, furniture, photographs, documents, and historical case files, broadening public access and research opportunities. The museum also develops the project "Paranaense Judiciary and the City," which connects honored judges to street names in Curitiba. The initiative uses IPPUC maps, naming ordinances, and short biographies to contextualize the presence of the judiciary in the city's memory. With this profile, the space stands out as a judicial museum in Curitiba focused on research, education, and institutional preservation.
